How it feels
With good numbing, a root canal feels like a long filling. Your jaw may get tired; we use a small bite block and take breaks.
Steps
An X-ray to map the roots.
Numbing, then a thin rubber sheet to keep the tooth clean and dry.
The canals are cleaned, shaped and filled.
A filling seals the top; many back teeth need a crown afterwards.
Aftercare
Expect some tenderness when biting for a few days. Over-the-counter pain relief usually covers it; call us if swelling appears.

Is it painful?
Most of the pain comes before the treatment, from the infection. The visit itself is numbed and most people are surprised how ordinary it feels.
