What is on the tray, and why

·

4 min

A mirror, a probe, and a few things that look scarier than they are. A short tour of the tray.

Dental instruments laid out on a tray

The tray in front of you can look like a lot. Most of it is for looking, not for doing.

The mirror and the probe

The mirror lets us see behind teeth. The probe is a blunt measuring stick for your gums, with marks every few millimeters.

The scaler

The small hooked instrument removes tartar. It scrapes, it does not cut, and you can ask us to slow down at any point.

If you want to know what something is before we use it, ask. We will hold it up and tell you.
